A low-key after work hangout, Dubliners get a good early night rush from the working crowd and sometimes attracts a younger set later at night.  The atmosphere is pretty typical of the “Irish Pub” genre, but dubliners also has a good selection of Dark Beers and Bourbons.

One of the best electronica clubs in the city, Cocoliche fills a huge venue in the center of the city on weekends and attracts a good mix of party-goers and electronica fans.

Another venue in the touristy but (somehow and maybe only in its own estimation) still hipster cool neighborhood of Palermo, Post stands out for unusually good live music and decent drinks.

On Niceto, completely surrounded by other bars and clubs, Carnal attracts a combination of locals and foreigners, mostly in the yupie 30-something bracket for good drinks and different, but usually good, musical sets every night.  Happy hour is especially popular.

A low-key jazz bar with a good drinks menu, Thelonious attracts a good mix of musicians and music enthusiasts (read:  hispters).  The music is sometimes very good and jazz is somewhat rare in Buenos Aires.

A huge, warehouse-like venue in San Telmo, Museum attracts a good mix of locals and tourists.  The music is diverse and the Wednesday night after-work party is especially good.

His Target:  Lawyer cutting loose

Style:  Dorm-room dance party on a massive scale.

A large nightclub in Palermo, Niceto packs large crowds for various thematic nights, including reggae, electronic, and the infamous Club 69 on Thursdays.

A huge venue with an open terrace right on the river, Pacha gets huge crowds late at night and books some big name DJs.

Every monday afternoon (at 8 pm), all the city’s hippies (and a good number of imported ones) converge on a single party:  la Bomba in Ciudad Cultural Konex, for a precussion concert with surprise musical guests.

Located in the posh district of Recoleta, this old mansion converted into a restaurant and bar serves good drinks in a great romantic atmosphere with a large open terrace.  Don’t miss the upstairs if you want a bit more privacy.
